Muskoka Bay Resort is a golf course, resort, and residential community anchored by the established 18-hole golf course within the rugged Muskoka landscape. Characterized by dramatic topography, exposed rock outcrops, wetlands, watercourses, and extensive natural features, the 130-hectare property presented a unique opportunity to create a destination that integrates resort living, recreation, tourism, and residential development within a constrained environment. Since 2017, Weston Consulting has led the preparation, refinement, and implementation of the Resort Master Plan, establishing a long-term vision that brings together resort accommodations, residential neighbourhoods, hospitality uses,
recreational amenities, trails, and supporting infrastructure while preserving the site’s natural character and on-going golf course operations.
The core approach has been analyzing and responding to the site’s evolving opportunities and constraints. Weston led extensive analysis of environmental features, topography, servicing, circulation, recreational assets, and development potential to identify appropriate locations for future growth. This iterative process has allowed for design refinements for an adaptable master planning framework that is responsive, while maintaining a cohesive, viable design vision for the resort.
Weston is implementing the Master Plan through a series of site-specific approvals and developments, including Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plans of Subdivision and Condominium, consent applications, subdivision condition clearance, site plan review, and ongoing planning and design advice. By leading both the overall vision and detailed implementation, Weston is ensuring that each phase contributes to a coordinated, resort-wide strategy, guiding an active golf course and resort community through visioning, approvals, and long-term implementation while balancing environmental stewardship, tourism investment, recreational programming, and residential growth
